NSCB and NSDB were hosts to six choirs on Saturday 26 November at their Winter Concert in the Parish Church of St. Mary Magdalene in Newark. There was an audience of over 300 people,
Junior schools participating included John Hunt Primary, Coddington C of E Primary, Winthorpe Primary, The Mount Primary, Chuter Ede Primary. They were also joined by Voices Chuter Ede Community Choir.
The concert opened with NSCB playing "Sleigh Ride" and "Fairytale of New York". The choirs and Newark & Sherwood Development Band then performed.
The church was packed for the event. In addition to the audience there were over 100 musicians and singers.
This event has become an annual concert in the NSCB calendar and brings together schools in the community giving them the opportunity to perform in the beautiful surroundings of the church whilst also having the opportunity to hear the Concert Band.
A wonderful evening was enjoyed by all which was rounded off by Newark & Sherwood Concert Band playing "Christmas Festival" which received a standing ovation.
Newark & Sherwood Development Band is for wind, brass and percussion musicians of any age and ability. It is there to provide opportunities for learning and returning musicians to play in an ensemble. If you would like to know more, please send an email to info@nscb.uk
